Systemic Equity Action Team

Description

The Systemic Equity Action Team (SEAT) evolved from the Racial Equity Task Force. The Racial Equity Task Force took a step back from its work to respond to a question.  Since the Racial Equity Principles were created in 2018, are we still a task force?  Our definition of a task force is a temporary group of colleagues organized with a short-term goal. With the successful development of the Racial Equity Principles, the majority of active members felt the task was complete.  In early 2023, a Public Health Training Center Network document was shared.  It contained a definition of Systemic Equity* that reflected the current shared goals of task force members.  This reenergized members to create an action team to continue racial equity work within the Partnership.

Aligned with the Partnership’s overarching goals, the Systemic Equity Action Team (SEAT) meets monthly to review, provide feedback, and propose strategies to center and highlight Racial Equity Principles throughout the five committees and one task force.

*Definition of Systemic Equity from the PHTCN: Systemic equity is a complex combination of interrelated elements consciously designed to create, support and sustain social justice. It is a dynamic process that reinforces and replicates equitable ideas, power, resources, strategies, conditions, habits and outcomes. Source: https://rjcmph.org
